The complete system, taught in full: forms, conditioning, weapons, and real self-defense.

Most martial arts schools teach you how to move. Hung Ga Kung Fu teaches you how to think, adapt, and prevail. If you're looking for something deeper than fitness classes with a belt system attached, you've found it.
Syracuse Kung Fu is the only fully qualified Chinese martial arts school in Central New York. Under the instruction of Sifu Sharif Anael-Bey, 4th generation from China's legendary Wong Fei Hung and inner room disciple of Grandmaster Frank Yee Chee Wai, you train in an art with a direct, unbroken lineage stretching back to the Southern Shaolin Temple.
Hung Ga (also written Hung Gar) is one of the great Southern Chinese martial arts. It's known for its devastating close-range hand techniques, low and stable stances, and an emphasis on developing genuine power from the ground up. The system integrates the Five Animals, Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Snake, and Leopard, with the Five Elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Gold, and Wood, giving students a complete physical and philosophical framework.
What this means in practice: you develop real functional strength, mental clarity, precise technique, and the internal power that traditional training cultivates over time. Students describe the first year as a physical and mental recalibration. Most never want to stop.
Adults of all experience levels are welcome. Whether you've never trained a day in your life or you've spent years in another system, Sifu Bey meets you where you are. He has a rare ability to teach the most subtle and advanced concepts in ways that land for students at every level, that's not marketing language, it's what his students consistently say.
You don't need to be fit to start. You will become fit by training.
Sifu Bey began martial arts at age 5, Tae Kwon Do, then Wing Chun Kung Fu, then Hung Ga. He encountered the Hung Ga system in 1984 and began training under Grandmaster Frank Yee Chee Wai in 1989. In 2000, following years of dedicated study, he was invited to undergo the Bai Si ceremony and became a formal inner room disciple of Grandmaster Yee. He has been teaching in Syracuse since 2000 and opened the school formally in 2004.
In 2008, in recognition of his service to the art and the association, Sifu Bey was unanimously inducted into the Governing Board of Yee's Hung Ga International Kung Fu Association. He is the Upstate New York representative of that association, one of the most respected Hung Ga lineages in the world.
He has hosted seminars featuring Master Mark Houghton (disciple of legendary director Lau Kar Leung) and Buddhism and Hsing Yi Master Ping Cheng of Szechuan Province. His students have traveled and competed in China.
"I've been training Kung Fu for 25 years and I've been blessed enough to meet some truly great teachers. Sifu Bey is absolutely one of the best instructors I have ever met and he's a genuinely great human being as well. His understanding of martial arts is extremely deep and his explanations make higher level concepts accessible to students of every level. He teaches realistic martial arts, all applications being for situations that might happen in real life instead of choreographed performance tricks that only work in your home gym."
"A year later Sifu's classes transformed my body in ways I would never believe inside and out. It made me a stronger, healthier and more powerful woman."
"I tried Sifu Bey's online class. In about 10 classes, my power and health improved way beyond what I had in those 3 years."
Lineage is not a marketing credential in traditional Chinese martial arts. It is an accountability structure. Every generation vouches for the next. Sifu Bey's lineage passes through Great Grandmaster Tang Fung, a younger disciple of Wong Fei Hung, and through Grandmaster Frank Yee Chee Wai, one of the world's most respected Hung Ga masters.
Wong Fei Hung → Tang Fung → Grandmaster Frank Yee Chee Wai → Sifu Sharif Anael-Bey
This is the Tang Fung line, distinct from the more widely known Lam Sai Wing line. Tang Fung was Lam Sai Wing's younger kung fu brother. Training here means receiving an art that has passed through a small number of deeply qualified hands, intact.
