Syracuse Kung Fu is the only complete Chinese martial arts school in Central New York. Under Sifu Sharif Anael-Bey, students learn Hung Ga as a whole system: the five animals and five elements, weapons, conditioning, Qigong, and the philosophy that binds them together.
The lineage here is direct and verifiable, passing from Wong Fei Hung through the Tang Fong line to Grandmaster Frank Yee Chee Wai, and to Sifu Bey as an inner room disciple. That inheritance is available to every student who walks through the door.
You do not need to be fit or experienced to begin. You need only to show up ready to learn.
Wong Fei Hung to Tang Fong to Grandmaster Yee to Sifu Bey. A transmission passed in person, over decades, not learned from video.
Forms taken into application, with conditioning and partner work that tests technique the way real situations do.
Barehand and weapons forms, Qigong, lion dance, and Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts. A full martial education.
New to martial arts? Here is the plain-language version, so you know exactly what you would be training in Syracuse.
Kung Fu is the broad family of Chinese martial arts, hundreds of styles developed over many centuries. The term itself means skill earned through patience and hard work, so a master chef or a master calligrapher also has kung fu. In the martial sense, it means the traditional combat, conditioning, and self-cultivation systems of China: how to move, how to defend yourself, and how to build a strong body and a steady mind.
Hung Ga is one style within that family, and one of the most respected traditional systems of southern China. Made famous by the folk hero Wong Fei Hung, it is known for rooted stances, powerful hand techniques, the Tiger and Crane forms, and internal conditioning. Hung Ga trains external power and internal energy together, which is why it suits people who want real self-defense and lifelong health, not just one or the other.
At Syracuse Kung Fu, you learn Hung Ga the traditional way, as a complete art, directly from a teacher with a verified lineage back to Wong Fei Hung himself.
